What Is A Diners Club Card?

Diners Club International is a banking and payment services company owned by Discover Financial Services. The Diners Club Card was the world’s first multipurpose charge card to be used for dining and travel expenses. The Diners Club aims to support global dining and entertainment via partnerships benefitting Diners Club cardholders, which it calls “Clubmembers.”

Diners Club cards may be worthwhile for people who travel frequently around the world and want to take advantage of Clubmember benefits at select restaurants, golf clubs, entertainment and more. Diners Club credit cards issued in the U.S. can be used wherever Mastercard is accepted.

How To Get a Diners Club Card

Currently, applications are closed for consumer Diners Club cards. In the U.S. corporate cards are still available, but prospective cardholders must ask their employer if their company is a member of the Diners Club Corporate Card program. Current Diners Club cardholders are still active and have no issues using their cards.

Types of Diners Club Cards

When applications were most recently open for Diners Club credit cards, the following two types of consumer cards were available:

Club Rewards points can be transferred to airline rewards programs or redeemed for custom travel benefits and more. Cards and benefits are subject to change, especially if the Diners Club opens its applications again.
